Class Descriptions
PRESCHOOL 1&2 (age 2-6) are designed to develop major motor skills through tap and pre-ballet. The program emphasizes and refines coordination, rhythm and personality projection through beginning ballet and tap technique in a song/dance format, imagination exercises, games and rhythm instruments. (1 class/wk)
BALLET/TAP (age 5-7 and 7/9) focus on an expanded dance vocabulary and stretch benefits in ballet, while the degree of difficulty in tap combinations is increased. Both age levels utilize the song/dance format. (1 class/wk)
JAZZ/(age 5-7 and 7-9) are geared for the very beginning level jazz student. Basic jazz technique is studied through simple turns, jumps, progressions and combinations – all taught to age-appropriate music.
JAZZ 1-5 (age 7 & up) are 5 levels of twice/week jazz classes. The first class of the week is devoted to a full standing warm-up, floor work, turns, jumps and combinations. The second class includes a traveling warm-up through progressions and routines. Form, line and style are explored in depth and performance technique is emphasized at all levels. (2 classes/wk)
HIP HOP (age 5-7 / 7-10 / 10 & up / 14 & up) focus on stret style jazz with an urban feel. The younger classes introduce a high energy contemporary "jammin" environment with age appropriate music. The older classes involve more complicated choreography with floorwork. (1 class/wk)
TRICKS & FREESTYLE is an advanced Hip Hop class designed to explore intricate floorwork, jumps, spins and gymno-tricks.(1 class/wk)
LYRICAL 2-5 (ages 7 & up) study a poetic dance form that defines the concepts of jazz technique through a style that features balance, extension and emotion. (1class/wk)
BALLET 1-2 (ages 7-11) consists of barre and floor work for the beginner to intermediate ballet student. Strength and flexibility are increased through a study of classical line and movement. (1class/wk)
BALLET/POINTE 3-5 (ages 10 & up) is designed for the intermediate/advanced ballet dancer. Pointe work is not required at any level. Pointe students must be recommended by the teacher and will incorporate pointe technique within this twice-weekly format. (2 classes/wk)
TAP 1-5 (ages 7 & up) accommodate the beginner to advanced tap dancer. Combinations and tap vocabulary become more and more extensive as the class level increases. Tap styles range from Broadway to "Buck & Wing" to Rhythm tap. (1 class/wk)
ADULT SAMPLER consists of 6 week courses (see schedule below) in a variety of subjects. Pick and choose the sessions that interest you - or take them all (1 class/week - Adult Sampler tuition is separate from all other studio tuition - $65 per subject)
September 9 - October 14 - Ballet
October 21 - December 2 - Tap (no class on 11/25)
January 6 - February 10 - Jazz
February 17 - March 31 - Hip Hop (no class on 3/17)
